Drink & drive cases up 55% on NY as against last time

Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad reported 55% more drink and drive cases during New Year's Eve celebrations compared to the previous year, despite the Covid pandemic. The rise in cases can be attributed to strict checking and the use of breath analysers. Police covered major roads and executed actions at multiple spots. The majority of the policemen were deputed at Perne village and on the Ahmednagar highway to manage the rush of vehicles. In Pimpri Chinchwad, 322 vehicle users were found driving under the influence of alcohol, compared to 150 in 2022.
