Quota panel chief quits, retd judge replaces him

The Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission faces setbacks as its chairman Anand Nirgude resigns and retired judge Sunil Shukre is appointed as the new head. The resignations of three other members, Balaji Killarikar, Sanjay Sonawane, and Lakshman Hake, citing government interference, may impact the commission's work. The commission was expected to work independently, but the government's interference led to the resignations. The government should help the commission carry out a detailed survey of each caste instead of focusing on only one community. Political interference in the commission's work is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
