Live storage in Maha dams dwindles to 65% of capacity

Live water storage in Maharashtra's dams has significantly declined, leading to concerns of a harsh summer and potential water scarcity issues. The storage levels in major, medium, and minor dams across the state have dropped to 65.7% of their collective capacity, compared to 86.32% during the same period last year. Water expert Himanshu Thakkar highlights the impact of El Nino and suggests focusing on preserving groundwater to mitigate future water scarcity problems. Recommendations from citizen activist Col SG Dalvi include greywater recycling, minimizing water wastage, and adopting responsible water usage practices to address the current water situation.
