India likely to witness 1.1-5.1°C average temp rise by 2100: Study

A recent study by the Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology predicts that India could experience a temperature increase of 1.1-5.1 degrees Celsius by 2100, depending on greenhouse gas emissions. The study analyzed temperature trends from 1980 to 2020 and found increasing temperatures during the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons in certain regions of India. The researchers also noted that rising temperatures could lead to more frequent and severe extreme weather events and have adverse effects on human health and agriculture.
