HR associate loses Rs 4 lakh to crooks in airline refund fraud

A 35-year-old HR associate lost Rs4.2 lakh to online fraudsters while trying to get a refund from an airline. Her flight was cancelled and she searched online for the customer care number. She contacted a number she found and was asked to download two mobile applications to process the refund. The fraudster gained access to her phone banking app and transferred Rs4.2 lakh through multiple online transactions. The victim filed a complaint with the cybercrime police and an investigation is underway.
