Birth certificate must for passport for those born on or after Oct 1, 2023

The Pune Regional Passport Office has made it mandatory for individuals born on or after October 1, 2023, to provide a birth certificate when applying for a passport. The birth certificate will serve as conclusive evidence of date and place of birth, aligning with the provisions of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act 2023. This change is aimed at streamlining various tasks that require proof of birth, such as admission to educational institutions, acquiring a driver's license, and marriage registration. Parents of minor applicants should be aware of this requirement and ensure they submit the child's birth certificate for a smooth application process.
