After TOI report on fleecing, relief en route for commuters

The state transport department in Maharashtra, India, will introduce a WhatsApp number for commuters to report issues with drivers misbehaving, demanding more money or refusing trips. The number will be monitored by a central control room and widely publicised. The move follows a report on fleecing and harassment faced by daily commuters and aims to improve the outdated redressal system currently in place. The state is also setting up an aggregator policy to regulate app-based transport services.
