65-yr-old man ends life over 'son's joblessness, lack of Maratha quota'

A 65-year-old man from the Maratha community in Maharashtra's Pune, Vyankat Dhopare, took his own life by jumping into the Indrayani river in Alandi. A suicide note found at his home indicated that he was deeply frustrated by his son's unemployment and the absence of reservations for the Maratha community. Dhopare had actively participated in various protests and agitations advocating for Maratha reservation in the past, as stated by Senior Inspector Sunil Godse of the Alandi police station.
