Pune: Officials blame urban voters’ apathy for poor show in polls

Urban voter apathy was once again on complete display during Sunday’s Kasba Peth and Chinchwad bypolls, with both the constituencies mana- ging to pull in just 50% electors. The lowest voting percenta- ge (32%) in the Kasba Peth constituency was recorded at a polling booth in Ghorpade Peth, while for Chinchwad, it was a polling station in Sangvi, which recorded barely 31% tur- nout. In fact, the polling booth in Sangvi had registered the lo- west voter turnout (34%) in the 2019 assembly elections too.
