53% rise in crime against women in Pune, says report

Cases of crime against women in the city increased by 53.17% at 1,616 in 2021 as against 1,055 in 2020, the National Crime Records Bureau's latest report showed. In fact, these cases had gone down significantly in 2020 as compared to 1,390 cases in 2019. One of the reasons attributed for the decline then was Covid-induced lockdown restrictions.
