50% cap on Maratha quota must go, SC told

Avoiding the risk of annoying any political constituency on the sensitive issue of reservation, state governments took almost a united stand before the Supreme Court on Tuesday in decrying 50% cap on quota. The Centre supported the Maharashtra government’s law on Maratha reservation, saying “it is valid” despite breaching the ceiling.
