Maharashtra assembly polls: Nearly 80% candidates in fray lose deposits

BJP nominee Gopichand Padalkar, who contested against NCP’s Ajit Pawar in Baramati, lost face on the result day when he could not save the deposit he paid to contest the election. Just four months ago, when Padalkar had contested on a VBA ticket, he had garnered nearly 3lakh votes.
